I came across a notice of a shop that sold, of all things, artifacts of Nikola Tesla. I quickly teleported there and the Lindens were with me, for I arrived safely.
But I never got around to examining the shop, for I found myself in the Independent State of Caledon instead. If you like visiting a time when manners still mattered, this place is for you!

What a delightful place! From a notecard I recieved at a nearby kiosk:
Welcome to the Independent State of Caledon!
Caledon is a 19th-century themed nation-state.
Visitor’s Introduction:
Caledon is a small, windswept forested country at a temperate latitude. Wild creatures, country estate life, sights and sounds that were common well over 100 years ago are the hallmark of the land.
- 19th century period clothing, politeness, and activities are smiled upon, but “just being yourself” is more than good enough.
- Above 512m altitude, the theme is relaxed, and pretty much anything goes. Except annoying folks, lagging the sim, and such as that.
- Though it is a “mature” rated sim, common decency and classy behaviour are expected and required in public areas.
Caledon is huge. It currently spans nine sims that I saw and I barely touched the surface. You can find trams and trains and large sailing ships. Dentistry shops. Calliopes. Remember when I said a few days ago that Nexus Prime was big? Nexus Prime is small compared to Caledon. I spent an hour or two in Caledon and I only visited three or four of the sims.

Caledon is growing. I read a notice about new sims, Caledon Cay and Victorian City, which seems to be a haven for steampunks, which I find fascinating if only for the metal airships and Babbage’s Difference Engine. (Sherpa is glaring at me for not mentioning the first programmer, The Right Honourable Augusta Ada, Countess of Lovelace, about whom she has written a book.)

I found a note for a library that will help the residents live in character. What a wonderful resource! Given the way I dress, I naturally found myself quite at home. If Seeker and Sherpa ever settle down and buy a small cottage, I’m sure we’ll consider Caledon. Besides, how can I resist this monument in the heart of Victorian City!

You should put on a top hat and go for a stroll in The Independant State of Caledon.
